At SealMetrics, our commitment to user privacy and data protection regulations directly impacts internal traffic management. Below, we would like to explain why filtering internal traffic is only feasible by compromising our privacy principles.
The Impossibility of Using IPs for Internal Traffic Filtering
Internal traffic filtering—excluding visits from within a team or company for more accurate metrics—typically uses IP addresses. However, as explained in our approach to bot blocking, handling IPs involves processing personal data. According to our interpretation of privacy regulations, this would require explicit user consent, even if the IPs are only temporarily used for filtering and not stored.
Why This Affects Internal Traffic Filtering
Because we do not handle or process IP addresses in any form, SealMetrics cannot implement an IP-based internal traffic filtering system. Using IPs to filter internal users would mean collecting and analyzing these IPs in real time, which, according to our understanding of privacy laws, would constitute data processing that requires consent.
Since our tool prioritizes privacy and avoids any process that could compromise it, this type of filtering is not within our capabilities.
